Unboxing Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Special Edition

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was released today and for those who preordered the limited edition, it looks great! If you haven’t and are decided whether to pick one up, we have you covered. We took some photos of what the limited edition contains and go into some detail of them. Gallery of the special edition is located below the article.

The Box Itself

The box itself is quite thick, mostly because of how big the art book is. The front of the box has a special coating to give the illustration a shine effect to it. When companies add these special coatings like this, they’ve put quite a bit of money into their product.

Metal Case

The metal case is one of the best looking ones I’ve seen. The size is the same as any other Switch game case, which is great to place it with the others. However there’s no label on the side, a disappointment. The inside of the case has a game scene spread across. For a special edition, I was expecting an illustration than a game’s cutscene. Nonetheless it’s still a nice graphic printed inside.

Sound Selection CD

The CD contains 13 tracks, typical for a sample of the game’s soundtrack. The music is one of the best things about the game so having some tracks to listen while away from the game is nice to have. The design of the CD case matches inline with the special edition with its loud colors and abstract illustrations.

Art Book

This hardcover book contains 220 pages of collective illustrations of the game’s characters, enemies, locations, weapons and objects. Parts of the front and back of the book have the same unique shine coating that was used for the special edition’s box. It’s a great book to look through for those who love looking through art.

Overall

It’s a slick special edition with some great items. If you’ve enjoyed the game’s series, you shouldn’t steer away from picking the special edition up. If you’re leaning towards getting one, they should still be available. Check these retailers below if you are searching for one.
