After roughly one year since the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game was ported to the Nintendo Switch. Since then, physical copies have been on shortage in Japan, surpassed 500k copies sold worldwide, and just recently the Nintendo Switch version has surpassed the PlayStation 4 sales in Japan.
According to the Media Create numbers, the PlayStation 4 version has sold a total of 108,227 copies. From the latest software numbers, the Nintendo Switch version has sold 3,767 copies since February 4th. Giving the total amount to 110,217 copies. That’s really good for a game that’s a one-year-old port. Granted, the PlayStation 3 version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse has sold a total of 118,453 copies. The Switch version is well on its way to overthrow that number and when it does, Xenoverse 2 would be the top-selling Dragon Ball game in Japan.
With that being said, Dragon Ball FighterZ producer Tomoko Hiroki has said they would consider porting it over but waiting on how well Xenoverse 2 will do on the Nintendo Switch. Below is the quote pulled from KayaneTV interview with Hiroki (question starts at 6:50):
In regards to the Switch version, we couldn’t really say about the situation. However, what we do know is we would like our Switch users to focus on our first Switch title: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
After the release of Xenoverse 2 on Switch, then we will start to consider whether we should have Dragon Ball FighterZ on Switch.
You’re move now Bandai and Arc System Works.
