Dragon Ball 20th Movie Gets a Poster & Date

Releases December 14th in Japan.

UPDATE (March 12, 2018 at 8:10PM): Updates regarding the movie info from Akira Toriyama and from FUNimation have been added to the original article.

Back in December 2017 during the Shonen Jump Festa, a new Dragon Ball movie was revealed and would release in December 2018 but no firm date. Now, a promotional poster was revealed, showing Goku with a date of Friday, December 14th in Japan.

Last we heard about the movie’s plot was it was to cover the origins of the Saiyans and the power of the Super Saiyan God. Based off the poster, the official website, and a message from Akira Toriyama himself, that may still be true. We don’t know 100% if Goku and the gang will be in the movie and if so for how long on the screen. This will be the first Dragon Ball movie titled as Dragon Ball Super, previously they’ve been titled from previous series such as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.

We also learned who is going to be on staff for the movie:

  • Original Work + Screenplay + Character Design: Akira Toriyama
  • Director: Tatsuya Nagamine
  • Animation Director: Naohiro Shintani
  • Art Director: Kazuo Ogura

The official 20th movie site is live but expect more details soon and we’ll keep you up-to-date as soon as possible. Dragon Ball‘s 20th movie is scheduled for December 14th, 2018 in Japan. Western release unknown.
