Amiibo-less Super Mario Cereal is Hitting Store Shelves

Super Mario Cereal is getting a makeover with less amiibo.

The once, holy crap this cereal is an amiibo, is getting (supposedly) turned into an amiibo-less cereal. Thanks to Reddit user 0terminater0, a new design for the Super Mario Cereal is starting to hit store shelves, this one particular at Target. The amiibo logo and graphic has been taken off along with the Super Mario Odyssey theme. A big bummer for those who are still looking out for this theme over the newer one. Below is a closer look between the old and new version of the cereal box.

With the new design, it does resemble a lot from an original concept Kellogg pitched to Nintendo before the cereal was ever released. Going back to Reddit user 7gvgc9’s photo, the background graphic and the Mario holding a spoon are very close to the new cereal box. Seems like this was planned for quite some time by Nintendo and Kellogg to swap graphics once the Nintendo Switch game, Super Mario Odyssey has been released for quite some time. Below is a closer look between the two.

No official word from Nintendo on the redesign and from Kellogg cereal but looks like the Super Mario Cereal will stay on store shelves longer even with the new look.
