There’s no doubt that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a fantastic game. During the Game Developers Choice Awards, Breath of the Wild won yet another “Game of the Year.” Surprise! So how many does that make now for the 1-year-old Zelda title? Let’s count!

Out of all the award ceremonies and editorials, 189 of them awarded The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with “Game of the Year.” Did the game earn the most “Game of the Year” awards? No. That title still belongs to Witcher 3 in 2015 with a total of 257 awards. When games like NieR: Automata, Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, and another Nintendo game, Super Mario Odyssey released in the same year, it would be tough for Breath of the Wild to get over 257 of those awards. Regardless, 189 is still A LOT and well deserves it. Can Nintendo do it again in the near future? Highly difficult but if anyone can do it again, it’s them.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The DLC packs are also available.
