Phantasy Star Online 2: Cloud has opened its servers today in Japan for the new MMORPG. For those who don’t recall, this is the game that was talked about from the last Nintendo Direct that showcased The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild costume of Link.
The game requires a 40MB space on your Nintendo Switch as the game is majority played online by “cloud gaming” method. Because the game relies on cloud servers, requiring consistent internet, players should not have to worry about constant patches and upgrades. The game requires a Wi-Fi 802.11ac connection or a stable internet line using 5GHz or broadband-compatible wired LAN adapter. Like any other MMORPG, you can expect some lag if the internet connection becomes poor. The game framerates at 30fps and game data can be shared between the PlayStation 4, PC, and PlayStation Vita by using the same Sega ID account.
To celebrate, Sega releases a launch trailer of the game which can be viewed below. The official website showcases tutorial videos on how-to-play for beginners. The videos are in Japanese with the option of Japanese subtitles but players can get a glimpse on how the game functions.

Unfortunately there’s no indication of the game coming out to western countries as the last time we saw a Phantasy Star Online game out west was back during the Gamecube, Xbox era and that was a port from the Sega Dreamcast.
