New Footage of Kingdom Hearts III Surfaces

More information to be revealed at e3.

Square Enix held a special closed event for fans and media to play the highly anticipated game, Kingdom Hearts III. Those who attended received a chance to play in two scenes: Mount Olympus in Hercules world and Andy’s Room and the toy store, Galaxy Toys from Toy Story.

Both showing some fantastic gameplay along with a special summon of Ralph from Wreck-it-Ralph. Ralph places blocks anywhere and, like his role in the movie, smashes them, hitting enemies around. What’s interesting is that Ralph’s texture looks quite different than anything around him. Giving him that dated style. It’s great to see him in the game but as a fan of the movie, I would love to visit Ralph’s world in the new Kingdom Hearts. Like Ariel from the Little Mermaid, Ralph will have his own animation and appears you can skip it based on the game’s interface in the gameplay video. Something that a lot of players have requested.

Most of the gameplay footage will have Woody and Buzz helping you out. Buzz can call-out a rocket where everyone jumps on, attacking enemies in all directions. At the end of the ride, everyone jumps off and the rocket flies right into the enemies. Sora also jumps into a Gigas, a giant toy robot, giving the player a first-person mech battle and a taste what it’s like to play in one.

In Mount Olympus, Sora, Donald, and Goofy will travel uphill to fight against the Rock Titan. The Titan will throw large boulders and you’ll have to dodge them if you want to make it to the top for a battle.

You can watch the 8 minute gameplay footage and loads of screenshots below. There’s a lot to take in and lots of activity going on in each scene, you’ll want to take a few playbacks to digest what’s happening. No other details were announced, but a release date and more could be mentioned at this year’s e3, stay tuned!
