Here’s an interesting scoop regarding the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Reports are stating that Jim Carrey is in negotiation on starring a role in Paramount’s live-action and CGI film as Dr Robotnik (aka Eggman). A large role to fill in as Sonic’s nemesis. Sonic the Hedgehog is one the most popular video game series that has spun cartoon series and appeared in other video games with Nintendo.
This isn’t the only film Jim Carrey has played as a villain, in Batman Forever, Carrey plays as the Riddler. While this is not finalized, this would be an interesting role to see Jim Carrey in. The film stars James Marsden (X-Men, Hairspray, Enchanted) and Tika Sumpter (Ride Along, Southside with You) and is directed by Jeff Fowler (Where the Wild Things Are, Gopher Broke).
The movie is set to release sometime next year.
UPDATE at 8:05 pm ET: Report now saying that Jim Carrey’s role would be a live-person, not CGI.
Doctor Eggman, i.e. @JimCarrey will be a live-action person in the movie, I'm being told. https://t.co/Y75zttE9kp
