The Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 will be released next week, July 24th but a new mode for newcomers and trophy lists have emerged before its release. This new mode, known as “Rookie Hunter” lowers the game’s difficulty, giving half the damage from enemies. The mode also turns off instant death when falling on spikes and bottomless pits for Mega Man X4 – X8 games. The mode can be turned off and on while playing.
Trophies for Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 have been revealed but with some interesting descriptions. Thanks to Brian (aka Protodude), who also runs Rockman Corner, there’s maybe a Mega Man X9 on its way.
There’s a trophy in Collection 1 and Collection 2 that while different titles, the descriptions for both says: View 20 images across all four titles, then change the wallpaper to the secret image.
Another set from both collections with the same descriptions is also in question: Blast through the mystery of the staff credits and return to the future.
Could we potentially see a Mega Man X9 wallpaper for finishing the “Another Day, Another Recon” or “Reconnaissance Complete” trophy? Maybe a scene of either Mega Man X9 or Mega Man 11 in the “Identity Erased” or “Defrag Complete” trophies? Until the game is released, we don’t know.
While the title and description are based on the PlayStation 4 trophies, Xbox One, Steam achievements would be very similar in achieving. Nintendo Switch players can still earn the wallpaper and other hidden secrets in the game the same way, regardless of it being a trophy or an achievement.
Going back to almost a year ago, we saw a secret image from Capcom when an “unused art” had been tucked away in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. Brian was able to call-out the art and was later revealed that it was actually for Mega Man 11. Awesome detective work from Brian!
If what we learned from Capcom, Brian’s detective work, and what the trophy descriptions tell us, there’s a glimmer of hope that Mega Man X will return with a new game. For now, if you’ve enjoyed Mega Man X, you can pick up the collection when it is released on July 24, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC (Steam).
