In case you missed it, entering gyms has been adjusted. According to Siliconera and the official Japanese website, trainers are required to meet certain criteria if they want to enter gyms in order to challenge the gym leader. Not all the gyms will have the same criteria but will request you to either have your Pokémon at a certain level, specific types (grass, water, etc.), and possibly more. Based on the graphic above, in order to challenge Brock’s gym you’ll either need a Grass-type or Water-type Pokémon with you. Is this a buzzkill? No. It literally gives players more reason to pay attention to the game than just run through the game.
