When it comes to video games, orchestrated concerts are a blast. We’ve seen official concerts of Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, and Kingdom Hearts but now, Super Mario is finally getting a show. The concert titled as “Koopa is the Protagonist!” will get two 2 hour shows, September 15th and 16th but only in Japan at the KYOTO CMEX 2018 (KYOTO Cross Media Experience Executive). The show will showcase not just Mario but putting the spotlight on Mario’s nemesis, Bowser (King Koopa). A different perspective to make the concert not just about Mario.

Tickets start at 1,000 yen for students (approx. $9.00 USD), “A” seating for 6800 yen (approx. $61 USD), and “S” seating for 8500 yen (approx. $76 USD). Typical pricing, fantastic deal for students. If you so happen to be in Japan during that time, you can purchase the tickets right here, when they go on sale July 28th in Japan. By the way, ticketing site won’t let preschool children into the concert.

So what are they going to play? While the details are a bit scarce, the ticketing website has stated the following games will have a score: Super Mario Brothers (1, 2, 3), Super Mario World, Yoshi Story, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Odyssey, and more.

While it’s a bit disappointing nothing is set outside the country, we can only assume if the concert goes well and enough demand, we can potentially see a world tour. I mean, we did get a couple concerts from Nintendo to come to North America and Europe.
