Sony has released their sales report for the last three months and while hardware sales dipped a bit, things are looking positive for the game console. The PlayStation 4 has sold 3.2 million units in the first quarter of 2018, that’s down .1 million units compared to Q1 2017. Despite sales, the PlayStation 4 has shipped 82.2 million worldwide.
Hardware wasn’t the only drop in sales for Sony. Television sets, digital cameras, and cell phone also dropped in the first quarter of 2018. While physical items were down in sales, gaming and network services has jumped compared to Q1 2017. 40.6 million PlayStation 4 softwares sold in Q1 2018 versus 38.7 million Q1 2017. Digital sales have also increased at 43% of the software sales. With Marvel’s Spider-Man game coming out later this fall, PlayStation 4 hardware and software sales could potentially jump.
So how did subscribers for PlayStation Plus do? As of June 30, 2018, 33.9 million users are subscribed to the paid service, which dipped .3 million since March 31, 2018. Comparing to March 31, 2017, subscribers has increased 7.5 million. Expect a positive jump as the year goes by with new releases coming out for the PlayStation 4.
