Dragon Ball Super Broly Mexico opening weekend literally destroyed Mexico’s box office. The movie opened up January 11th and no other film came close to it. Taking down last week’s top movie, Aquaman but also the opening weekend of Jefa por accidente (Second Act) starring Jennifer Lopez. Dragon Ball Super Broly brought in approximately $6.4 million USD during the three day showing. Opening weekend film, Jefa por accidente came in second with approximately $1.6 million USD. Aquaman in third with approximately $1.1 million USD, falling -46% of last weeks sales.

With this and ticket sales internationally, including Japan, the latest Dragon Ball movie has made $54.3 million. What’s more mind blowing, 2015’s Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ made approximately $62 million USD total gross worldwide, approximately $8 million domestic. With the movie opening soon in North America and Europe, the new Dragon Ball film will overthrow it’s 2015 film after this week. Additionally, Dragon Ball Super Broly is on path to be in the top 10 grossing anime movies. Who holds #1 top anime film in North America? That would be the 1999 Pokemon: The First Movie at approximately $86 million USD. Worldwide, the Pokemon movie has brought in approximately $164 million USD.
