Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers and Crossover Surprise

NiER: Automata invades the MMO world.

Announced during a Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Paris, Final Fantasy XIV will receive a massive expansion titled Shadowbringers. It’ll release July 2nd for the PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam). However, you’ll need the starter edition (original game) in order to utilize the expansion. Players pre-ordering the expansion on Square Enix’s store before March 1, 2019 at 12:01 am(PT) will receive bonus digital items and early access to the game. Early access is scheduled for June 28, 2019. Date is subject to change.

In detail, the bonus digital items will include these two items: a baby gremlin minion and an Aetheryte Earring accessory. This accessory will boost 30% in experience points (EXP) when worn, up to level 70. Some attributes will vary based on the player’s class/job and current level.

If you decide to order the collector’s edition, you’ll receive quite a few goodies in the package. Couple of items that stand out are the 23cm (9in) tall Dark Knight figure and the three in-game items. For instance, the revolver weapon for your new Gunbreaker job.

The game will add new additions. Such as, a new class called “Gunbreaker”— a gunblade-wielding fighter that’ll play as a tank will be available. A homage to Final Fantasy VIII. Level caps have increase from 70 to 80. New dungeons, trials, 8-player raids, and areas will be added.  You can watch the Gunbreaker announcement trailer and see it in action below.

From Final Fantasy XII, the “Viera” race will be playable to the expansion. Although, why did it take this long for the long-eared rabbit race to be playable in the game? At the very least, they’ll be available this summer. You can watch the reveal trailer of the Viera race below. New beast tribes will be added: pixies, Nu Mou, and dwarves.

That’s not all what’s in store with this new update. The massively multiplayer online (MMO) game will receive a new alliance raid series, featuring a crossover with NiER: Automata called YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse. As for details, that’s still unknown. Surprisingly, Yosuke Saito and Yoko Taro will reunite again in this crossover.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is now available for pre-order. The expansion releases July 2, 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam). The trailer announcement and official artwork can be viewed below this article. We’ll keep you updated regarding the new alliance raid. Additionally, you can visit the official website for additional details.
