2019 is looking to be the year of video game movies in Japan. Ni no Kuni is getting a movie and now, Dragon Quest is as well. Dragon Quest PR has announced a 3D CG movie of Dragon Quest “Your Story”. The story will be based off of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.

As for the team behind the film’s production. Takashi Yamazaki will lead as Chief Director, who has worked on Japanese films Always: Sunset on Third Street and Stand by Me Doraemon. Ryuichi Yagi and Makoto Hanafusa will co-direct the film. Ryuichi Yagi worked on Stand by Me Doraemon and directed Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3. Likewise, Makoto Hanafusa also involved with Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3 as a character artist and CG art director. Music to be composed by Koichi Sugiyama. Koichi involved with composing music for the Dragon Quest series and older Godzilla movies. Not surprising, Yuji Horii will be supervising the film’s production. Yuji is the creator of the Dragon Quest series and supervised quite a number of popular games. For example, the popular RPG Chrono Trigger.
