Sega knows the western audience is chomping at the bit for the reboot Sakura Wars to release outside of Japan. Fear no more as the Sakura Wars release date for the west if official. PlayStation 4 owners can pick up the game on April 28, 2020. Japan received the game on December 19, 2019. A launch edition will include the physical PlayStation 4 game with a reversible artwork and sticker set.

Sakura Wars first debuted in Japan on the Sega Saturn in 1996 and became a success. An animated OVA series was released between 1997 and 1998 as Sakura Wars: The Gorgeous Blooming Cherry Blossoms.
