Due to the coronavirus impact, Nintendo has mentioned that a Nintendo Direct wouldn’t happen till later in the year. However, last month we’ve seen content updates for Super Mario Maker 2 and Animal Crossing New Horizons. Out of nowhere, Nintendo revealed a new Paper Mario game. Paper Mario the Origami King announced for the Nintendo Switch and release mid-July this year.
Things have folded a bit different, especially with Princess Peach. King Olly has taken over Mario’s world and it’s up to Mario, Bowser and Olivia, King Olly’s sister to stop King Olly from folding the Mushroom Kingdom forever. The highly detailed, vibrant Paper Mario game will have a new battle mechanic that uses a ring-based battle system that requires both puzzle-solving skills and a quick wit. A video of this battle mechanic below the announcement trailer. Mario’s new ability, the 1,000-Fold Arms ability, let’s Mario extend his arms to interact with the environment.
