Earlier in May, Anime Expo revealed their upcoming event would go digital due to the global pandemic. When announced of a digital event called Anime Expo Lite, a key art that stirred up some noise. A possible return of the 2007 video game, The World Ends With You. Today during the Anime Expo Lite, The World Ends With You returns as an animated series, The World Ends with You – The Animation.

Revealing the trailer, they art style looks to resemble the original game’s illustrations. In an interview with the team animating the series, the challenge of the series was taking snippets of animation and voice acting from a video game into an animated series. After watching the trailer, the team seems to be doing a job well done keeping the style intact.
