Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie Release Date Released by Paramount

The blue blur making a return on the big screen.

Many movie studios are making decisions on delays and taking their films off theater release during the COVID-19. Paramount Pictures made an announcement that their two films, A Quiet Place Part II and Top Gun: Maverick delayed to 2021. On the bright side, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie release date, confirmed by Paramount, to release in theaters April 8, 2022. Other details about the movie still a mystery. For those who have seen the film have a general idea what maybe in store.

(SPOILER)

With Dr. Robotnik warped to a mushroom world, we may see the mad scientist return and perhaps an appearance change that’ll fit more to the current character design of the Sonic the Hedgehog game series. Additionally, we saw Miles “Tails” Prower make an appearance and looking to find Sonic. Some speculation in the beginning of the first film, Sonic was chased by a tribe of echidnas. Could we see another familiar face show up in the new film? Hard to say.

(END SPOILER)

Before the pandemic, Sonic’s first theater trailer didn’t take off very well and fell flat. The film was pushed back to February 2020 release date to fix the character designs and doing so made the film profitable. According to Box Office Mojo, the film made just over $58 million on opening weekend in 4,167 theaters. By March 19, COVID-19 was making an impact on closing theaters. The film made over $146 million, 35 days in theaters. While many movies have not released in theaters because of the pandemic, Sonic the Hedgehog was one of the biggest profit films in 2020. After a couple months, Paramount gave the green light for a sequel. While it’s years away, knowing the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie release date is something positive during the pandemic. Even if we have to wait.
