UPDATE: September 10, 2020: Ubisoft announces Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game Complete Edition will arrive this holiday for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia this holiday. Will include all DLC.
Original Story
It’s been 10 years since the pixel art, arcade styled game, Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 10, 2010. The side-scrolling game received a few add-ons and eventually delisted from the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live at the end of December 2014, thanks to Ubisoft who published the game. While the game takes the same look and feel of the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, it was more geared towards the live-action film, Scott Pilgrim vs the World. which released three days after the game’s release. Unless you sold your console, those who are fortunate to hang onto their console can still play it. However you couldn’t re-download the game.
Fans and creators of the popular graphic novel and movie took social media to express their feelings to Ubisoft on a re-release of the game. One small light of hope was earlier today when Canadian author and artist Bryan Lee O’Malley tweeted he was contacted by Ubisoft.
It’s still too early to tell what will come out of it. Rumors swirling of Edgar Wright, director of the film, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, is “working hard” to bring the game back. At this point, it’s up to publisher Ubisoft and film studio Universal to make the call if they want the game to be re-released. If it does, expect to release on current generation consoles such as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and (hopefully) the Nintendo Switch.
