After delaying the park to open in 2021, thanks to the global pandemic, Super Nintendo World officially opens in Japan on February 4, 2021. Based on the official Universal Studios Japan website, there’ll be three attractions: Mario Kart – Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi Adventure, and Power-up band key challenge. Today, Nintendo and Universal showcased photos and a promotion video of the Mario Kart ride, located in Bowser’s castle. Up to four people can be placed per kart which sits on a rail, giving riders some control of the kart using the steering wheel. Riders will ride through different scenes such as a lava level, underwater, spooky area, Rainbow Road, and more. While riding, racers will wear a Mario-theme headset that’ll project mapping and other tech for interaction while karting. Universal Studios has made it clear that they’ll disinfect each headset after used to prevent germs spreading.

The ride itself looks to have lots of detail and will leave Nintendo fans excited. The Yoshi Adventure lets you ride on Yoshi’s back on a treasure hunt with Captain Toad. You’ll relay on his map to find three eggs hidden among the ride. The power-up band key challenge utilizes the unique Mario-themed wristbands which were showcased early 2020 that uses a mobile app on your smartphone for interactive fun. In this attraction, you’ll face against Bowser Jr. who stole the golden mushroom. Defeat the enemies in the area to retrieve keys to face against Bowser Jr. for the prized mushroom. These attractions to showcase further at a later date. For now fans can experience the close-up of inside Bowser’s castle and the karts riders will play in.
