It has been 5 years since NieR: Automata first launched in Japan for the PlayStation 4. Today, the popular game is getting animated. NieR: Automata anime, announced this morning, has begun production. A timeline of the broadcast unknown at this point but expect a possible 2023 release window. Aniplex, known for working on Full Metal Alchemist, will produce the series. Hopefully the wonder soundtrack will carry over into this animated project.

The official project’s website launched as well but gives no other details at this moment. For now, fans will have to wait for further news of this surprise development. To celebrate the game’s 5 year launch, you can grab a NieR: Automata wallpaper here at Cat with Monocle.
