Square Enix celebrates 20th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series with a few announcements which held in Tokyo on April 10th. Three games were revealed: the final chapter in Kingdom Hearts Dark Road chapter to Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road, Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, and Kingdom Hearts IV. Two of those games announced for iOS and Android devices. As for Kingdom Hearts IV, no console confirmed. Taking a solid guess, expect it to release for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at the least. Those hoping for a Switch release, if anything, a “cloud version” of the game, similar to Kingdom Hearts III. However, the cloud experience for the game received unbearable experience for not just Kingdom Hearts III but the other entries as well.
Here’s the breakdown of the games revealed during the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event, starting with Kingdom Hearts IV:
Kingdom Hearts IV
Currently in development, Kingdom Hearts IV teaser video showcases a new storyline titled the “Lost Master Arc”. Sora wakes up in a realistic world called Quadratum, a large, expansive, modern-day looking city. It’s as if you’re playing Final Fantasy XV. Sora meets Strelitzia, a mysterious new character in this realistic world. The video reveals Sora’s new, realistic look, much similar how he alters his appearance between each world and him in action against a giant enemy destroying the city. Additionally, Donald and Goofy make their appearance elsewhere at the end of the teaser.
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link
An all-new game for the iOS and Android devices. The game’s graphics look quite good for mobile devices as players journey through the realm of Scala ad Caelum. Battle against the Heartless in this new, original story. It also appears while battling, players can use character figures from Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Disney franchises to aid in battle. Though it appears these figures are used for status boosts. A closed beta test scheduled for 2022 for limited regions.
Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Final Chapter
The final chapter of the Kingdom Hearts Dark Road schedule to release in August 2022 for iOS and Android devices. A free update to the Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road.
