Fruits Basket fans will have something to look forward to this summer. Crunchyroll announces Fruits Basket -prelude- theater release in North America (United States, Canada) on June 25, 28, and 29 in both subtitled and dubbed in English. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 3. Overseas, the film releases in English dubbed only in the United Kingdom on July 20. Tickets go on sale June 24. This is the first time the prequel film of the popular 2019 anime series Fruits Basket releases outside of Japan.
The Fruits Basket film is a standalone story that’ll take fans back before Tohru became involved with the Soma family, who can turn into animals of the Zodiac when hugged by the opposite sex. Fans will get to dive into the life of her parents, Kyoto and Katsuya Honda, before they pass on.

The film is directed by Yoshihide Ibata, well-known for Fruits Basket and Attack on Titan: Junior High. Studio animation provided by TMS Entertainment and 8PAN, together known for producing 2019’s Fruits Basket and Dr. STONE.
