Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Announced for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4

Celebrating 35 years of Final Fantasy

Square Enix is celebrating 35 years of Final Fantasy right on time. Sunday, December 18 marks the 35th anniversary when Final Fantasy first released. Celebrating the special milestone, Square Enix is releasing it’s once PC and mobile-only Final Fantasy games to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. That’s right fans, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster announced for both consoles and will release in spring 2023.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will release as a bundle or can be purchased separately via digital download. A limited physical edition is also set to release in two different editions: standard and anniversary. The standard edition will come with the first six Final Fantasy titles for $74.99 (USD). The Anniversary edition comes with much more items but at a heavy cost at $259.99 (USD). Here’s what comes with this special edition.

  • Final Fantasy I-VI collection game package
  • 2-disc vinyl record set featuring newly arranged game music with exclusive cover artwork by Kazuko Shibuya
    • Will also come with MP3 digital files for a limited time offer
  • Art book of Final Fantasy I-VI
    • Hardcover
    • 128 pages
  • Eight pixel figure set
  • Collection lenticular sleeve
    • Depending on the angle, the image makes the pixel characters seem like they are moving

This unique edition is only available through Square Enix’s online store and is available now to pre-order. Supplies are limited but hopefully the company will add more so everyone will have a chance to place their order(s). Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster announced for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 will release spring 2023. A May 31, 2023 tentative date revealed on Square Enix’s site. Happy Birthday Final Fantasy!
