The start of a new marvel universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania sets the stage with alluring scenery and world creation. This movie has everything expected from the franchise, bringing plot development, comedy, complex relationships, and adventure into the unknown. Marvel fans will want to experience Ant-Man’s latest adventure.

Lost in Expectations

The expectations that come with the Marvel franchise might have been driven a bit too far at times. There are many points in the film where the storylines or comedy are being delivered purely to hit these assumptions of what a Marvel movie should have.

In this threequel of the Ant-Man empire, Scott Laing, played by Paul Rudd, and Hope Van Dyke, played by Evangeline Lilly, re-established the relationships with the family they had lost. Stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas and Kathryn Newton in their roles have chosen to fight together with Ant-Man and Wasp for, hopefully, the good of the universe.

This new family, along with Jonathan Majors, truly pushes complex relationship structures and an empathetic connection to the audience, though at times these were overwhelmed by poor comedic timing similar to Thor or Guardians of the Galaxy movies. This being the third movie in the series, the character growth seemed to be replaced by big character reveals trying to move the overall plot points of the Marvel universe forward instead of focusing on a realistic portrayal of the characters at hand.

A Whole New World

Comedic timing aside, Quantumania had a large role to fill and did an amazing job presenting a new universe. The artistry and graphics alone make this movie worth seeing, unlike any of the Ant-Man movies before, though the music was relatively comparable to similar action movies. Other Marvel movies have given us glimpses into the quantum and multi-versal worlds before, but Quantumania brought everything together, including cosmic clouds, a Star-Wars-esque cantina, living buildings and an advanced techno-empire only dreams could create.

The Final Leap

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is an action-packed and breathtaking experience that brings a hopeful outlook into what is next in the Marvel Universe.
