Final Fantasy XVI releases for PlayStation 5 (PS5) on June 22nd. Earlier, PlayStation revealed a special Final Fantasy XVI PS5 bundle and accessories to celebrate the game’s upcoming release. In North America and Japan (other countries to follow), a PS5 console bundled with a digitial version of Final Fantasy XVI will open pre-orders on May 4th and releases June 22nd on the PlayStation Direct online store.
The North America box also indicates the voucher does not include the disc. This is very similiar to the recent God of War Ragnarok bundle, expect the price to be around $559.99 USD. Unfortunately this console bundle is your standard white shell, no special accessory. A digital version would also get the same bundle setup.
HOWEVER, PlayStation Japan revealed additional Final Fantasy XVI accessories for the consoles. A PS5 shell in black with decal of the Final Fantasy XVI logo in metallic gold. It’s good to see PlayStation selling console shells outside the expensive console bundle. Hopefully more customized shells will come as PlayStation made it quite easy to swap, though not as easy compared to the Xbox 360’s faceplate.
Additionally, a special DualSense controller was also revealed with details on the touchpad and the grip areas. Like the shell, the controller will have metallic gold and a subtle pattern of “crystals” on the touchpad is painted in vibrant blue. No word if North America and other regions will release these special accessories. These two accessories will go on sale May 4th in Japan. Hoepfully everyone worldwide will get a chance to pick up any of these accessories soon.
