After a successful launch, Nintendo released a sequel to the first Pikmin game for the Gamecube in 2004, Pikmin 2. The game expands the gameplay and experience, giving players now controlling both Captain Olimar and Louie. In this sequel, Olimar returns to the Pikmin’s planet for valuable resources with Louie to pay off their company’s debt, thanks to Louie, losing a shipment of golden Pikpik carrots. New kinds of Pikmin are introduced in this game, such as Purple and White. The game become so popular, Olimar and the Pikmin were introduced in the Super Smash Bros. series. Pikmin 2 received ports for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U and the Nintendo Switch. Players can purchase the game for the Nintendo Switch on the Nintendo eShop or as a bundle with Pikmin 1.
