After a long period of waiting, Bandai Namco’s development team released the rollback netcode for Dragon Ball FighterZ. This update helps reduce input lag and visual stuttering during online matches. Additionally, this Dragon Ball FighterZ netcode predicts inputs from the player and executes it instantly, correcting any discrepancies afterwards. Thus, creating a more responsive and smoother gameplay that acts like an offline match.

The update now available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch versions remain on the older netcode system. This also means that no cross-play support between the different platforms as of right now. PC players do have an option to choose between the new rollback netcode or stay with the older version, the delay-based netcode. Whichever option you chose will affe the matchmaking. An update for older consoles and Switch may come at a later date. Players can transfer their save data when upgrading to their newer consoles but cannot go back.

The new, rollback netcode system is not compatible to all game modes. The Circle Party Match and Party Battle modes are limited to the delay-based netcode system.

To learn more about the Dragon Ball FighterZ netcode update and how-to install/transfer data, players can visit the official statement on Bandai Namco’s website.

Dragon Ball FighterZ available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam, Windows 10). Wallpapers of each fighter available here at Cat with Monocle.
