A classic anime series, Ranma 1/2, is getting a reboot and it’s airing sooner than you think. The Ranma 1/2 remake set to air on October 5th in Japan. While the original series showed uncensored scenes such as the breasts, the reboot trailer did show a censorship where that prevents exposed bosoms. Regardless, the animation looks clean and vibrant as popular anime studio, MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man) is involved with the classic anime’s reboot.
The original anime series that ran in the late ’80s and early ’90s. This is the second series from Rumiko Takahashi that’s receiving a new animation adaptation, the first one being Urusei Yatsura, available to stream on HiDive.
Regards to voice actors for Japan, many of those actors will return to reprise their role. Here’s the list of actors and their characters they will play:
- Ranma Saotome (male) voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi
- Ranma (female) voiced by Megumi Hayashibara
- Akane Tendo voiced by Noriko Hidaka
- Nabiki Tendo voiced by Minami Takayama
- Kasumi Tendo voiced by Kikuko Inoue
- Soun Tendo voiced by Akio Otsuka
- Genma Saotome voiced by Cho
- Ryoga Hibiki voiced by Koichi Yamadera
- Shampoo voiced by Rei Sakuma
- Narrator voiced by Kenichi Ogata
Additionally, the anime’s opening theme will be sung by ano, known for working on one of Chainsaw Man’s ending theme songs, “Chu, Tayousei”. Additional details of the song and the ending theme at a later date.
Ranma 1/2 remake series set to air in Japan on October 5, 2024 and on Netflix (Japan). Details on streaming access for western countries not announced yet.
