Product Synopsis
Rule Breakers is based on the true story of the Afghan all-girls robotics team, founded by Roya Mahboob, one of the world’s leading advocates for girls in STEM. The team became globally famous when they were denied American visas to attend their first competition in Washington. After a firestorm of media advocacy, they were ultimately allowed into the US to compete, and they won an award despite many obstacles. Roya and her team later faced searing attacks at home by those who thought girls should be banned from learning computers and robotics, and from traveling and competing. Against still more enormous setbacks and challenges, including the death of the father of one of the girls in a bombing, the girls persisted. They went on to win a major international competition in New Mexico, and inspired girls and students from around the world with their grit and determination.
