Another movie in the Jurassic Park franchise, titled Jurassic World Rebirth, takes us on a journey five years after Jurassic World Dominion. In this installment, a major corporation is interested in using dinosaur DNA to develop a cure for a significant disease. While this may seem altruistic, as with any major corporation in the Jurassic Park franchise, their primary goal is profit. They spare no expense in assembling a team to retrieve fresh DNA directly from the source. Naive and innocent paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, portrayed by Jonathan Bailey, is offered an irresistible opportunity to join this team. His task is to identify the correct dinosaur breeds in person so that the DNA can be collected at one of the original undisclosed research facilities on the island where all dinosaurs were created, including those that were flawed or unsuitable for public viewing.
This island has been off-limits to the world due to its dangerous nature. To overcome this obstacle, the corporation hires a team of mercenaries, including Zora Bennett, played by Scarlett Johansson, and Duncan Kincaid, played by Mahershala Ali, to safely transport the retrieval team to the island and ensure their survival long enough to obtain the DNA samples.
Before reaching the island, the team encounters a dinosaur in the water and stumbles upon a shipwrecked family who were attacked by the same dinosaur. The family, which includes a young child named Isabella Delgado (Audrina Miranda), is rescued by the team, and they all set sail for the island after collecting DNA from the water-dwelling dinosaur. However, they are soon shipwrecked themselves due to another attack.
As the team faces one dangerous encounter after another, they must confront the increasing death toll as they strive to obtain all the DNA for the company. But at what cost?
Retry to Rebirth

Jurassic World Rebirth is exactly what you would expect from the Jurassic Park franchise. Filled with action, suspense, both old and new dinosaurs, near-death experiences, and ethical dilemmas surrounding DNA retrieval and the resurrection of extinct creatures for profit. While the acting and jump scares are nothing new, and the story is weaker compared to other films in the franchise, the movie still holds its own for those who enjoy visually stunning dinosaurs and beautiful scenery.
The CGI in the film does not disappoint, with the dinosaurs looking as realistic as ever, including the new additions that were deemed too ugly or violent for the theme parks. Despite the high cost of creating each dinosaur, the film showcases some truly unique and ugly creatures set against the backdrop of a tropical paradise, which is a hallmark of the franchise.
Returning Flawed

Unfortunately, the beloved characters from previous films are missing in this installment, which is a major letdown. While attempts were made to include big names like Scarlett Johansson, the performances fell flat. However, there are a few standout performances, notably Ali’s character, who brings depth and empathy to the story, and Xavier Dobbs, played by David Iacono, whose charm and hidden depths surprise both the characters in the film and the audience.
The actors are not entirely to blame for the lackluster performances, as the weak story and predictable action sequences hinder their ability to shine. The heavy-handed foreshadowing also detracts from the film’s enjoyability, as it leaves little room for suspense or surprise.
The Last Rebirth
Jurassic World Rebirth may be predictable with a weak story and subpar acting, but the dinosaurs steal the show. Despite its flaws, the film is worth watching on the big screen for the stunning visuals and a return to the roots of the Jurassic Park franchise.
An early screening provided for this review. Jurassic World Rebirth arrives in theaters on July 2nd. Fans can visit the official website for additional information and tickets.
