Following the footsteps of his father, Detective Frank Drebin from the previous Naked Gun films, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., portrayed by Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List, Kinsey), must solve a murder mystery that turns out to be a larger situation that could potentially shut down the police department. With Liam Neeson in the lead role, the film features a strong cast including Pamela Anderson (Baywatch, The Last Showgirl) as Beth Davenport, Paul Walter Hauser (The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Richard Jewell) as Capt. Ed Hocken Jr., and Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Aviator) as Richard Cane. The film also includes special guest appearances by celebrities such as “Weird Al” Yankovic and Busta Rhymes for additional comical scenes.
Here for the Laughs

Like its predecessor films, The Naked Gun is full of comical moments from start to finish. There are a variety of over-the-top scenes that are silly but provide comedic relief. Even when the humor is not over-the-top, it still shines as comical gold. The film maintains its focus on parody and the story, whether you take it serious or not, and keeps the jokes and wild scenarios consistent throughout. It’s impressive how the film manages to keep the audience laughing the whole time. Some viewers may have their favorite scenes, such as when Frank and Beth take a trip to a northern cain. This unexpected scenario was unnecessary but the filmmakers included it and turned into a memorable, hilarious moment where your sides are aching from laughter.
Liam’s serious tone effectively complements the jokes, leaving viewers wondering how many takes were needed to prevent him from cracking a smile. Pamela Anderson does a great job and has good chemistry with Liam’s character, especially during her singing performance in the jazz club. The movie also incorporates elements of modern society, such as electric vehicles and the pros and cons of automatic driving, into its comedic relief. Bringing nostalgia with the modern world mixed together.
The film includes jokes that reference previous films, so if you are not familiar with them, you may miss plenty of goofy moments that make the film funny on its own. There are not too many comedies like The Naked Gun, and when one comes along that delivers humor effectively, it leaves the audience wanting more.
The Final Laugh
The Naked Gun is packed with laughs from beginning to end, guaranteed to have the audience in stitches within the first ten minutes. With Liam and the rest of the cast delivering over-the-top goofiness, it’s definitely the funniest film of the year.
