Returning back to the real world after a holiday break isn’t always an easy transition. At the very least there are new entertaining titles coming out this month to make it a more positive start of 2026. A few game releases such as a free demo of the upcoming Dragon Quest VII Reimagined becomes available, a delightful experience RPG fans should look forward to. Pac-Man crossover to Sonic’s latest racing game occurs this month, Animal Crossing New Horizons gets a Switch 2 upgrade, along with free new updates, new indie games such as Big Hops makes a splashy entrance, and Final Fantasy VII‘s first entry remake comes to the Nintendo Switch 2.

This month, it’s mostly new television series, movies, and a new season of anime that hits January. Many returning anime such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Fire Force, Hell’s Paradise, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more starts airing this month. Lupin the Third gets its new movie early this month while other films like Dead Man’s Wire and Return to Silent Hill arrive in theaters later this month.
