Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2 Sisters Generation is returning to modern consoles for PlayStation home console fans to enjoy. The game is the second installment of the long-running Hyperdimension Neptunia series.

While the first game introduces Neptunia, Compa, Iffy, and the other goddesses, Re;Birth2 introduces a whole new set of characters within the realm of Gamindustri. While the first game was lighthearted, the second installment takes on a darker tone. The CPU Goddesses are removed, defeated, and imprisoned, leaving Gamindustri defenseless. Players are now introduced to the new cast of CPU candidates who take on a more leadership role. However, some story arcs tend to drag and slow the momentum of the story.

The game still maintains its humor but delivers a more serious take that feels more aligned with today’s world than its original release.

Gameplay feels more balanced and adjusted compared to Re;Birth 1+. Players still need to grind, but it feels more rewarding in this installment. The game’s Plans system allows players to adjust dungeon design and difficulty, making it feel more optional rather than mandatory. Difficulty spikes are less pronounced, showing that the developers learned from the first game and made improvements in the second. Tutorials are clearer, and battle mechanics are introduced at a steady pace. Grinding doesn’t feel as much of a chore as in the first installment.

The art style and illustrations of the new characters are visually beautiful and colorful. The biggest takeaway from Re;Birth 2 is that a new story can be told without the game’s original protagonist, opening up new paths for future titles.

If you’ve played the first installment, there’s nothing to stop you from continuing the Neptunia story arc.
