The third entry of the hand-drawn, picture-book-style adventure game is coming in spring 2027. The Grimm Reapress and the Drearytale Monster release date scheduled to arrive on May 13th and if you’ve played any of the previous two hand-drawn games from NIS America, you’ll know what type and style of game you can expect.

We had the opportunity to demo the game at PAX West and the gameplay feels very similar to its previous entries, such as The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. You’ll control a young girl named Mono and help give commands and gain assistance to a monster named Mär. Solve puzzles, fight bosses, it’s a unique style of gameplay and with the hand-drawn and paper-like visuals, it’s a game that’ll separate from many other games. Controlling between Mono and Mär proved some challenges at first but once you understand the mechanics, control the two became much easier to enjoy the adventure. The boss battle in the demo at PAX West showcased that players need to utilize the objects around and find a solution to take down a powerful beast to its knees.
