Ubisoft’s announcement of Starlink: Battle for Atlas came with a surprise, a Nintendo surprise. Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series is making his move with Ubisoft’s title. With the collaboration with Nintendo’s Mario + Rabbids, Ubisoft looks to continue to integrate more of Nintendo’s characters with their games.
While the game is releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Fox McCloud will only be available for the Nintendo Switch. This sounds familiar, in fact this is very similar to when Activision collaborated with Nintendo to bring in Donkey Kong and Bowser to the Skylanders game, only those characters were available on the Wii and Wii U consoles.
Similar to the Skylanders toys and Lego Dimensions (toys for life games), you can build your starship model, mount it to your dock, and syncs into the game. You can change parts to affect your ship in the game. Fans can purchase the Nintendo Switch Exclusive Starter Set that’ll include the following:
- 1 Starlink video game with Star Fox story mission
- 1 Arwing starship
- 1 Fox McCloud
- 1 Flamethrower Weapon
- 1 Frost Barrage Weapon
- 1 Digital Shredder Weapon
- 1 Mason Rana Pilot
- 1 Digital Zenith starship
- 1 Controller Mount
- 1 Starlink poster
If you aren’t burned out with the toys for games, this may be an interesting title to pick up for $74.99 (USD), especially with the Arwing starship figure. Starlink: Battle for Atlas will release on October 16, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Fox McCloud will only be available for the Nintendo Switch.
