Since Nintendo’s release of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super NES classic, more companies have jumped the bandwagon, including the Sega Genesis Classic. Who’s next to join? Sony. Celebrating 25 years, the PlayStation Classic has been announced and will have 20 games pre-installed.
All 20 classic titles have not been announced but here’s what’s officially confirmed: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. The classic console will retail at $99.99 USD ($129.99 CAD). Sized to be 45% smaller than the original. Keeping the original look, along with the classic controller with no rumble. However the reset button is now a way for players to suspend their games. The open button will take players back to the game menu screen.
Packaged will be a HDMI cable, USB cable, and two wired controllers. Players will have to rely on the USB for the power source as it won’t come with an AC adapter.
Without finalized list of games, it’s questionable if worth the pickup for that retail price. The PlayStation Classic will release on December 3, 2018. Prepare your wallets.
