Yoshi’s Island DS Music Found on EPA Browser Game

Music is gone but code remains.

The Environmental Protection Agency website has a browser game that teaches players about recycling. However, not the only thing recycling. Fans of Nintendo’s Yoshi games recognized a familiar tune in the browser game. Yoshi’s Island DS‘s “Underground” theme used without permission from Nintendo. Right now, the file taken down but the code in the jQuery (a Javascript library of code) still remains. The EPA tells The Verge the following statement:

The ‘Recycle City Challenge’ game was created for EPA by a contractor. We are looking into whether the contractor received permission to use the music, to the extent permission was necessary in this instance.

You can bet your bottom dollar the track won’t return. The contractor didn’t throughly removed the name as it remains in the file. A screenshot of the code showcasing the track remains. May be now we know why Yoshi doesn’t pay his taxes.
