Hyper Light Drifter TV series announced, thought things are still early in discussion. Alx Preston, lead developer of the game and Netflix’s TV series of Castlevania‘s producer Adi Shankar, have been in talks on getting the indie game animated. The idea has been made, now it’s time to get a team together to make it happen.

Alx Preston tells Polygon:

The difference between a series and a game is vast in a lot of ways. Hyper Light as a game was pretty atmospheric and kind of overbearing at times. For a series, the question is: how do you sustain and keep your attention on a non-interactive run? Does it get really, really dark and serious? Does it have some levity?

These are great questions. Can Preston and Shankar make a solid storyline to keep the audience’s attention long enough for multiple seasons? Could this potentially be only on Netflix? Hard to say. If things unfold nicely, this is great news for other strong indie games for a chance to shine again. A potential Super Meat Boy series? How about Celeste? SteamWorld Dig? Iconoclasts? Owlboy? Only time will tell!
