With Nintendo and Sony jumping into the retro mini consoles, Sega couldn’t sit back. During the Sega Fes event in Japan last year, Sega announced a mini version of the Mega Drive (Genesis). Originally, the console was to release in Japan that same year but delayed to this year. Announced earlier today in Japan, the mini console will release this year globally. Japan will receive two variations. Mini console with one controller at 6,980 yen (roughly $60 USD), and with two controllers for 8,980 yen (roughly $80 USD). Western countries will receive the classic Sega console this year on September 19.
The Genesis Mini will include two controllers and 40 games for $79.99 USD. The Mega Drive, known in Europe and Japan will receive the same amount of games. Below is a rundown of those games officially announced for Japan and western countries:

This is a strong list of games with potential for more. The mini console will come with four quick save slots and multiple language options, this includes the Japanese version as well, and will run at least 720p resolution.
