Pokemon GO Fest 2020 Details Revealed

Digital event with a caveat.

Since its announcement from yesterday’s Pokemon Presents, Pokemon GO Fest 2020 going all digital, due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. The event takes place for two days, July 25th (Saturday) and on the 26th (Sunday). Both days running 10am to 8pm, based on your timezone. Here’s the official details happening on both days.

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 – Day 1

Plays will receive a Special Research story that you can get only on the first day, five rotating Pokémon habitats, access to the Global Challenge Arena (a brand-new feature just for Pokémon GO Fest), and over 75 species of Pokémon appearing in the wild, in raids, and as Special Research encounters.

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 – Day 2

A surprise event to come that’ll be different and details to follow. There’ll also be another Special Research story for players to enjoy.

During yesterday’s announcement of Pokemon news, a legendary Pokemon to be available to capture during the fest in July. Based on the silhouette provided, appears to be Victini. Details on capturing likely to be revealed closer to the festival’s launch. However, this isn’t a free event. Similar to the past years of Pokemon GO Fest, tickets are going for $14.99 USD (not including tax) and cannot be purchased through the game’s currency. Tickets can be purchased now by following these steps in the Pokemon GO app:

  1. In the shop, tap the Pokémon GO Fest 2020 image.
  2. Tap the Buy button.
  3. You’ll then see a pop-up indicating that you’ve received a ticket for Pokémon GO Fest 2020.
  4. After you tap OK, you can find the ticket in your Item Bag.
  5. A few days before the event, you’ll receive a medal. When you open the app during Day 1, you’ll receive access to the Pokémon GO Fest 2020 experience, including the first Special Research story! Make sure to open the app during Day 2 to receive the second Special Research story.
  6. After you’ve obtained the Special Research lines, you can complete them at any time. Tickets to this event are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 begins on July 25, 2020 and ends July 26, 2020. Both days running 8am to 8pm local time.
