This morning Nintendo announced a new Super Smash Bros Ultimate character to be revealed during the annual award show, The Game Awards. Instead of waiting till the end, the trailer broadcast and can hear Final Fantasy fans screaming in joy, especially Final Fantasy VII fanatics. Sephiroth, the antagonist in Final Fantasy VII and one of the most well-known video game characters makes a dramatic entrance. A trailer of the One-Winged Angel shown below.

The trailer itself was quite a treat. Those who’ve watched the CG film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will recognize a handful of familiar scenes. One of them is the iconic scene where instead of Sephiroth stabbing cloud and holding him mid-air, it’s Mario but being held up by his overalls. Sephiroth joins the battle in Super Smash Bros Ultimate in December 2020 (this month). A special presentation from director Masahiro Sakurai to showcase the new DLC fighter at 5pm ET / 2pm PT on December 17th.
