Deneos’s next game is the the works after its successful launch of Save me! Mr Tako, titled Tako no Himitsu: Ocean of Secrets. Live on Kickstarter, the Tako no Himitsu project funded in three days. Giving more days left for additional funds for new content such as new music tracks. Those who’ve played Save me! Me Tako will recognize a few locations that look familiar as Tako no Himitsu takes place 800 years after the events from Save me! Me Tako. Have to love the connection between older titles like this. It’s not required to play Save me! Mr Tako but it’s still worth taking a trip before this game finishes development.
Tako no Himitsu is a role-playing game (RPG) with style inspired by the glory days of the Game Boy Advance handheld. Classic RPG titles such as Golden Sun, Illusion of Gaia, Final Fantasy VI and Terranigma made an imprint for the game’s art direction. The project started its development in 2019 and slated to release in 2026 for PC (Steam) and on the Nintendo Switch. Players can solve puzzles, find hidden secrets, level up heroes and fight powerful bosses in a party of three that can be swapped out. Players will have a Chao Garden-like mini game where you can take care of your octopuses. These ocean creatures can also aid you in battle and solve puzzles as each one has a unique skill to utilize.
The indie game’s soundtrack will bring in Marc Antoine Archier, who worked on Save me! Mr Tako, and two additional composers. Motoi Sakuraba known for his work in Golden Sun, Dark Souls, Star Ocean, and Tales series, and Masanori Hikichi, known for working on Terranigma and other scores and sound effects for the Sega Saturn and PlayStation titles.
A full demo of the soundtrack of Tako no Himitsu is available to listen and purchase on Bandcamp. The soundtrack is still in work-in-progress. It’s harmonic and does capture the style of playing a RPG title.
