After its official announcement back in early June, Nintendo hosted an online broadcast to celebrate 40 years of The Legend of Zelda. During the live broadcast, more news about the upcoming remake of the classic Nintendo 64 game finally surfaced. The official The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time trailer below the article showcases the overall broadcast.

Series producer Eiji Aonuma shows fans the first gameplay of the remake and the launch date for November 5, 2026, 14 days before Grand Theft Auto VI comes out (September 19th). The remake not only gets a completely overhaul visual but also fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestrated music, reworked camera and controls since the Switch 2 has more options than the Nintendo 64 had, plus more.

The gameplay shown is the most realistic Zelda game Nintendo has gave and closely resembles the original, almost a one-to-one reference. Going back in time, the latest remake gameplay brings back memories on how fans were excited to see a realistic Zelda game coming to the Wii U during Nintendo’s E3 presentation.

Also revealed are two ocarinas later this year that will let players use these instruments into the built-in microphone on their Nintendo Switch 2 system, and Link will perform the song in the game. One of the ocarinas from the Nintendo Store and the electric version from HORI that plays notes or entire songs at the press of a button. These items will be available for pre-order soon.

Two amiibo figures were shown, Young Link and Young Zelda, both launching this year. Use these figures to unlock special in-game masks that will add a retro graphical style to Link’s face.

Pre-orders for the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2 is now open on the Nintendo eShop for both digital ($59.99 USD) and physical with full game included ($69.99 USD). First batch of physical edition will have a foil cover, playing off the specialized Nintendo 64 version. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
