Toy Story 3 Complete Edition makes the experience of the original feel and look better than before. It’s a good time to revisit this classic Toy Story game or for those new to the experience.
Coming Down from the Attic

The 2010 Toy Story game makes a return to today’s modern consoles. This time, all platforms will receive the same content. Those who did not play the PlayStation 3 version did not receive the same experience as some exclusive content, such as playing as Buzz Lightyear’s nemesis, Emperor Zurg.
The Complete Edition includes more than just the combined content. Graphics are improved. Higher resolutions and frame rates make the gameplay look smoother and more visually pleasing. However, cutscenes didn’t receive the same upgrade, as they look dated with their compressed quality and frame rate.
Playing on the PlayStation 5 Pro, the visuals and performance showed no issues when flying as Buzz Lightyear or catching a train as Woody. While the PlayStation 5 Pro and other platforms with comparable specifications will have the opportunity to play the game at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second (fps), Nintendo Switch owners will have a lower standard. Nintendo Switch owners will have a lower standard. The original Switch resolution is up to 900p when docked (640p handheld) and 30 fps. Switch 2 is better with its 60 fps, but the resolution stays at 1080p even when docked. It’s puzzling that the Switch 2, when docked, doesn’t exceed 1080p, but the chance to own the complete game on a game card is a positive aspect.
Playdate with Destiny

The overall experience of playing Toy Story 3 is like a toy chest of various games that are spread across a board game. Players can pick and choose what they wish to play and try to collect all collectible items hidden in each area. It adds some additional replay value if you’re looking for more reasons to revisit levels you’ve already completed.
As you play, more areas become available to play, such as Sunny Day Care’s level called “Fair Play” and Buzz Lightyear’s “To Infinity and Beyond.” Each carries their own unique platform style and missions to give some diversity. You find yourself getting bored with Woody’s Roundup? Jump into “Infinity and Beyond” for a refreshing change of pace. While Woody’s Roundup is like an open-world sandbox game that’ll offer a variety of missions and interactions, adventures like Andy’s House’s “Hold the Phone” and “Fair Play” are short gameplay adventures that do wish there was more to explore.
The game’s mechanics do feel much better than expected and much smoother if you compare it to Toy Story: Retro Roundup! Camera angles do tend to force their way in unwanted times but do give some flexibility. The soundtrack adapts scores from the Toy Story films while also bringing a variety of different tunes that do feel like they work quite well in this game, such as Buzz Lightner’s level, which brings in electronic synthesizers for that cosmic feeling.
The game’s built-in infinite lives make it easy for children to dive in and experience the gameplay, and the inclusion of checkpoints reduces frustration. Trophy and achievement hunters will enjoy earning milestones, such as defeating Zurg and avoiding traps during their stealth mission adventure.
The Final Toy
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition brings a classic adventure back from the attic with improved visuals, smoother gameplay, and all previously separated content in one package. It’s a trip down memory lane for returning players and a fun new adventure for first-timers. However, a few hiccups still need tweaking before this toy chest is truly complete.
