Sega and RGG Studio releases a new Stranger Than Heaven trailer: Act 1: Kokura Story. In this clip, players will look at the first era of the protagonist Makoto Daito’s life, additional details:
The new trailer depicts the events that led Daito, who had endured persecution in America, to stow away on the “ghost ship” of the merchant Orpheus in pursuit of Japan. There he meets Yu Shinjo, who had likewise stowed away on the ship and would later become his best friend, before they experience the harsh reality awaiting the two in Kokura. The trailer further depicts Daito’s encounters with people whose lives intersect with his, the circumstances that lead him to become a showman and his efforts to build the foundation he needs to survive in Japan.
We had the opportunity to test out the game’s mechanics during PAX West and its a different experience than I anticipated. Control setup replaces the traditional face-button action mechanics and instead uses it as a left-and-right-control scheme. Movement you make on the left side all occurs on the left side of the controller and vice versa for the right side. Other actions like blocking and using weapons will have dedicated buttons to initiate. It takes some time to get your mind around it but once you have it down, it actually feels smooth and different. Making you think more about the game afterwards.
Stranger Than Heaven release date set to launch on January 15, 2027 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Fans can visit the game’s official website for more information and pre-order purchasing.
