During Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary broadcast, a few new titles were showcased. Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth announced for the PlayStation 5. The game takes place after the events of Remake where Cloud and company begin a new journey outside of Midgar. During the trailer, fans will not only dive back into Cloud’s past but also Zack’s. Yoshinori Kitase, Final Fantasy VII Remake series Producer and Final Fantasy VII Director said the following regards to the second game of the trilogy:

Making the middle part of a trilogy has its own challenges, but there are plenty of classic second installments in the world of film that are defined by stunning story twists and deeper explorations of their characters. Often these second installments become a favorite amongst the fans. In the same vein, we are aiming to make Final Fantasy VII Rebirth an even more gripping and memorable experience than Final Fantasy VII Remake, so please wait a little longer while we finish up.

It’ll be awhile before the next chapter in the remake trilogy but at least fans know it’s coming. In the meantime, other Final Fantasy VII titles were announced to help chew some time before end of next year.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth announced for the PlayStation 5, scheduled to release in winter 2023.
