Bub is a narrative indie game that has a strong message and artistic visuals, it feels like you are playing a work of art.
Say What You Feel

Created by Paperfrog, Bub tells a very personal story on memory, creativity and illness with handcrafted stop-motion visuals in an interesting way. The story revolves around Bub, an artist from the South living in New York City. Unfortunately, he is sick and diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. This illness affects the brain and the entire nervous system.
Players will journey through Bub’s memories and how he devoted himself to his art before the illness took over. You’ll interact in various art styles, such as ink drawings, paper puppets, and more. It also carries a variety of gameplay scenarios, from riding a bike while avoiding obstacles to playing as stick figures and jumping into a pool of water. These interactive moments are very creative, resembling the experience of watching a PBS channel while controlling the action through short minigames.
Firsthand Experience

Artist visuals, animation, and writing are done by Case Jernigan’s personal experiences and struggles are reflected in the game’s story. Many of his works outside this game are displayed and carry Jerningan’s artistic visuals and his emotional memories. You can view his work on his personal website. The game has been in development with periods of hiatus in the last few years. Along with his colleague Todd Anderson, they aim to release this emotional and artistic game before the end of 2027. The game will be a short playtime from ninety minutes to two hours, but the goal is to express the awareness of multiple sclerosis.
Bub is one of the most organic, artistic visuals I’ve experienced. Using stop-motion, where nearly every object is animated, you can tell a lot of work has been involved. After playing a short demo, I felt it was more than enough to explore the emotions of how this illness can consume your life through artistic visuals.
Bub is set to launch late 2027 for PC (Steam) Fans can visit the game’s official website for more information and wishlist the game on Steam. We appreciate Day of the Devs team for giving us the opportunity to experience this artistic demo at the Summer Game Fest.
