New Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World details emerged and players can expect an adventure to push back the darkness with a little help from a watering can.

The two protagonists, Bianca and Nera visit the Kingdom of Witherwood, a land that was once lush and fertile thanks to the protection of the Archeagles. Unfortunately the forces of darkness have caused destruction to the land. The girls aim to stand up against the evil to bring back what was once a thriving kingdom.

We’re also introduced to new characters of the upcoming RPG.

• King Withers – the ruler of Witherwood asks the two protagonists to help save his kingdom.
• Ed – A rambunctious boy who likes to show off in front of the protagonists.
• Scruffy – Ed’s partner who’s enjoys mischief.
• Thespidor – The “showrunner of the darkness below,” this character has motives that’s unclear with his creation of the meteocite crystals.

You’ll also journey across various regions but beware of powerful monsters that carry a swirling red aura. Players can expect to explore an icy tower located at the top of a snow mountain, sun-drenched plain to. reach a swamp where the rain never lets up, and more. As you travel, you’ll come across Roots of Creation and Lifebuds, shriveled remnants of the Archeagles’ waning power that have lost their life’s energy to the forces of darkness. With the Waterwing Can in hand, you can bring them back to life but watering them. Monsters will roam near the root and looking for a challenge so give it your best shot!

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World launches on December 3, 2026 for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
